Chef Tim Gard is a Dare County native of Manns Harbor, where his family has lived for generations. Immersed in the local hospitality industry for 25 years, he’s held many roles that span the entire spectrum of the culinary world—from the humble beginnings of a line cook and a dishwasher to the more intricate positions of sous chef, catering director, personal chef, kitchen manager, and executive chef.
His passion for the craft ignited at a young age, as he honed his skills under several talented and hardworking chefs specializing in the local seafood trade. Growing up in this vibrant coastal community, Chef Tim Gard has cultivated a palette finely tuned to the unique flavors and traditions of the Outer Banks. However, his culinary odyssey reaches far past the shores of his hometown, embracing dishes and techniques from around the globe.
For the past seven years, Chef Tim has been an indispensable part of the Blue Water family, where he not only commands the kitchen but also crafts and curates special menus, events, wine dinners, and daily specials. Beyond Blue Water, he finds joy in raising his two children, Lilian and Henry, with his wife, Jennifer, who is also part of the team. With hobbies in music and history, his main focus is perfecting the style of great food and the southern hospitality the Outer Banks is known for.
